Commissioning at the cryogenic gas separation unit of the first process line of the Amur Gas Processing Plant

Commissioning at the cryogenic gas separation unit of the first process line of the Amur Gas Processing Plant. Loop tests of compressors and expanders are in progress. At the moment, the professionals are conducting additional tightness tests on the process pipelines, as well as functional tests of the emergency shutdown system.

Compressors are designed to compress the hydrocarbon gas to the pressure required for gas separation processes. The purpose of expanders is low-temperature cooling of dehydrated natural gas by step-by-step pressure reduction, followed by condensation and production of valuable components in the process chain.

A special feature of this process at the Amur Gas Processing Plant is additional generation of power in the process of lowering the temperature, which increases the energy efficiency of gas processing.

Background

The Amur Gas Processing Plant of PJSC Gazprom will become one of the world's largest natural gas processing sites with a capacity of 42 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Commercial products, in addition to purified methane, will include ethane, propane, butane, pentane and hexane fraction, and helium.

Gazprom Pererabotka Blagoveshchensk LLC (member of Gazprom Group) is the Investor and Owner of the Amur Gas Processing Plant project. Construction is managed by NIPIGAS JSC, a leading Russian centre for engineering, procurement, logistics and construction management.
