Fakel stadium reconstructed under Gazprom for Children project opens in Zavitinsk of Amur Region

On August 12, the opening ceremony of the Fakel stadium reconstructed under Gazprom for Children project was held in the town of Zavitinsk in the Amur Region.


It was attended by Vasiliy Orlov, Governor of the Amur Region, Dmitriy Kuteka, Minister of Physical Education and Sports of the Amur Region, Sergey Marshansky, Deputy Director General for Human Resources of Gazprom Pererabotka Blagoveshchensk LLC, Nikolay Kuzmichev, Aide to Director General of the Gazprom Social Initiatives Support Foundation.


«The stadium turned out to be very modern and beautiful. Many thanks to Gazprom support. With its help, we have already built 35 sports facilities, including four health and fitness centres and the fifth centre with artificial ice will be launched this year in Tynda. We strive to ensure that people do sports and educate their children properly, accustom them to a healthy lifestyle. Our task is to make sure that this stadium is in demand and full of people,» said Vasiliy Orlov.

Over 2,000 sports and social facilities have been built and reconstructed across the country under the project. And this figure will only grow with every year,» Nikolay Kuzmichev greeted the guests.


Regular football, area football, athletics, basketball, volleyball, kettlebell lifting and gorodki game sports, as well as mass sports events have resumed because of the overhaul of the stadium with an area of more than 19 thousand square metres.


Lokomotiv football team from Zavitinsk and ANK team from Blagoveshchensk played a warm-up match, with volleyball, basketball, and chess tournaments held simultaneously with the match.


Background

More than 2,000 modern sports and social facilities have been built since 2007, including more than 200 health and fitness centres as part of the Gazprom for Children project. The project covers 74 regions of the country.

Thirty five sports facilities have been built in the Amur Region since 2016, including 15 fields, 4 sports centres, while 16 facilities have been reconstructed.
