Majority of residents of Svobodny and Svobodnensky district positively assess the construction of the Amur Gas Processing Plant

The results of the sociological surbey of the attitude of the local population to construction of the Amur Gas Processing Plant (GPP) have been summed up. In December 2020, sociologists from the regional center for analytical expertise Business Sovetnik (Blagoveshchensk) interviewed one and a half thousand residents of the town of Svobodny, as well as nearby settlements located in the project area of impact.


According to the results of the survey, it was noted that 80% of residents of Svobodny and Svobodnensky district have a more or less positive attitude to construction of the large gas processing enterprise. 91% of the respondents believe that the Amur Gas Processing Plant is important for development of the region. The key positive factors of the project implementation are following: creation of jobs for the local residents, reduction of unemployment, growth of income and living standards of the population, positive impact of taxes paid on development of the local infrastructure, as well as decrease in the level of youth migration.

The Amur Gas Processing Plant of PJSC Gazprom will become one of the world's largest natural gas processing sites with a capacity of 42 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Commercial products, in addition to purified methane, will include ethane, propane, butane, pentane and hexane fraction, and helium.
