New health and fitness centre built as part of Gazprom for Children programme opens in Tambovka village of Amur region
A new health and fitness centre with a multi-purpose gym built as part of the Gazprom for Children programme in Tambovka village of Amur Region was opened on August 27 in a solemn ceremony. The event is dedicated to the 149th anniversary since the founding of Tambovka village, as well as the 40th anniversary of the junior sports school in Tambovka.
Governor of the Amur region Vasiliy Orlov, Head of the Tambovka district Aleksandr Kostenko, Chair of the District Congress of People's Deputies Lyubov Lobova, and Aide to Director General of the Gazprom Social Initiatives Support Foundation Nikolay Kuzmichev took part in the opening ceremony of the new sports facility.
The new health and fitness centre has two gyms. The multi-purpose gym with an area of 1,615 sq m has modern sports equipment for team sports, such as indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, as well as different martial arts. The general physical training gym is designed for aerobics and choreography classes. The new health and fitness centre is adapted for people with limited mobility.
«A lot of sports fields and stadiums have been built in the region with Gazprom's assistance: two health and fitness centres have been built (here and in Blagoveshchensk) and three more centres are currently being built in Blagoveshchensk, Tynda and Magdagachi. We plan to open them in the near future. The first health and fitness centre was built in the regional centre, it has been in operation for more than a year and is in great demand. I am confident that the centre in Tambovka will also run at full capacity. I wish all athletes every success,» said Vasiliy Orlov, Governor of the Amur Region.The event ended with exhibitions of the athletes from the Tambovka district.
More than 1,900 modern sports facilities have been built since 2007, including more than 200 health and fitness centres as part of the Gazprom for Children programme. The programme covers 73 regions of the country. Today, more than 130 thousand people train in these sports facilities. The total number of sports facilities in the Amur region built as part of the programme has reached 32.
