High-tech equipment for estimation of commercial helium quality was supplied to the Amur GPP central laboratory

High-tech equipment for estimation of commercial helium quality was supplied to the Amur GPP central laboratory. The equipment is three gas chromatography machines, unique in Russia. These analyzers are purposed for determination of trace contamination in commercial helium, which is important for production of high purity gas at the Amur GPP.

As Irina Zakharova, deputy head of the Amur GPP central laboratory, explained, these programmable automated complexes include chromatography machines, filters, furnaces, generators and other equipment. These state-of-the-art chromatography machines are equipped with high-sensitive plasma-emissive detectors, never used before in chemical industry of Russia.

Background

The Amur GPP is going to be one of the biggest natural gas processing enterprises in the world, with its annual capacity of 42 bln of cubic meters of gas. The products of the Amur GPP, besides the purified methane, are ethane, propane, butane and pentane-hexane fraction. One of the main products of the Amur GPP is helium. Helium is highly demanded along the state-of-the-art industries. Besides, Amur GPP is going to be the world leader for helium production with annual capacity of helium production of 60 mln cubic meters.

First train of the plant was put into operation on June 9, 2021.
