Russian Manufacturers Organize Production of New High-Technology Products for Gazprom Projects
Today in Saint Petersburg in PJSC Power Machines, Chairman of the Management Committee of PJSC Gazprom, Alexey Miller, held a meeting dedicated to results and perspectives of cooperation with enterprises of Russian metallurgical and machine-building complex.
The event was attended by managers and specialists of operating units of PJSC Gazprom, JSC United Metallurgical Company (UMC), PJSC Severstal, PJSC Pipe Metals Company (PMC), PJSC Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant (ChPRP), other companies and Association of Pipe Manufacturers.
Chairman of the UMC Board of Directors, Anatoly Sedykh
Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC Severstal, Alexey Mordashov
It was noted that as a result of a long-term cooperation with Gazprom Russian enterprises achieved a high level of technological development and organized production of a new range of products, including pipes. According to the results of 2016, content of on-shore pipes in Gazprom procurement was as much as 100%, while back in 2000 it was only 28%.
Chairman of the PMC Board of Directors, Dmitry Pumpyansky
General Director of PJSC Power Machines, Roman Filippov
One of the top priorities is organization of pipe manufacturing for field transportation of gas, which contains a large amount of carbon dioxide, as well as pipe products with a broad range of operating temperatures (from minus 60 to plus 350 degrees Celsius) for compressor stations.
Gazprom’s needs in innovative pipe products sets new tasks for domestic industry.
The participants paid special attention to the mechanisms how to upgrade quality assurance of products provided to Gazprom. At present, great efforts are dedicated to develop the INTERGAZSERT Voluntary Certification System established by Gazprom.
In the course of the event, organization of batch production of new power equipment was also considered, in particular, import-substituting generators with a capacity of 630 kW and 1 MW for modular power plants.
Based on the results of the meeting, instructions were given for further development of cooperation between Gazprom and Russian pipe and machine-building companies.
After the meeting, Alexey Miller and Andrey Komarov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ChelPipe, signed a long-term contract for batch production, supply and maintenance of import-substituting products for guaranteed supply volumes for future years. This refers to electric-welded longitudinal pipes and coupling elements for submerged and shore (over-land) pipelines of the company. Pipes with a diameter of 508 mm and a wall thickness of 20.6 mm to 24.9 mm made of X65 and SAWL 450 I FD steel grades will be used for the development of Kirinskoye and Yuzhno-Kirinskoye fields on the Okhotsk sea shelf.

Up to date, such pipes have not been manufactured by Russian companies. Specifically, during the construction of phase-one facilities for Kirinskoye field development pipes which had been manufactured in Japan were used. The ChelPipe Plant has already started and successfully tested a pilot batch of import-substituting pipes, their supply is planned to be commenced in 2018.
Alexey Miller and Anatoly Sedykh, Chairman of the UMC Board of Directors, signed a Road Map to organize production of large-diameter pipes and coupling elements made of plated steel. The implememntation of this document will allow to arrange production of a new type of pipe products for Russian gas industry. These pipe products will combine high anti-corrosion and strength properties and will be able to sustain a pressure of up to 32 MPa.

Steel cladding protects pipelines from carbon dioxide corrosion which is typical specifically for oil & gas fields in the Extreme North and offshore fields. The essence of the process is that a pipe base is manufactured of high-strength low-alloy steel, while corrosion resistance is ensured by means of an internal cladding layer made of high-alloy steel. Important advantages of pipelines made of such material include its long-life performance (up to 40 years) and reduction of operating costs due to the fact that chemical corrosion suppression systems are not used.
Works provided in the Road Map will be financed by UMC. The first batch of pipes made of plated steel is planned for manufacturing for 2019. In the future, it is planned to arrange production of coupling elements made of this material.
Also, today Alexey Miller persented first INTERGAZSERT certificates to the Volzhsky Pipe Plant, Vyksunsky Metallurgical Plant, Izhorsky Pipe Plant, which confirm that quality management systems of those enterprises comply with the Gazprom standard.

Alexey Miller, Alexey Mordashov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC Severstal, Roman Filippov, General Director of PJSC Power Machines, and Christian Bruch, a Member of the Executive Board of Linde AG, took part in the ceremonial launch of production of coil-wound heat exchanger equipment for natural gas liquefaction and processing units. Manufacturing of heat exchangers is arranged by means of the joint venture (JV) between PJSC Power Machines (included in Severstal) and Linde AG.
Christian Bruch, Alexey Mordashov, Roman Filippov and Alexey Miller
A spiral-wound heat exchanger is the main process equipment for cryogenic gas separation. This unique equipment is currently produced only by two companies in the world, including Linde. Local manufacturing of heat exchangers, using production capacities of the PJCS Power Machines, will allow in future to implement large-scale gas liquefaction and processing projects on the territory of Russia, where Russian equipment will be used.
First products of the Russian-German Joint Venture will be manufactured in 2017 and they will be used for the construction of the Amur Gas Processing Plant.
