Lesson with a professional: Gazprom class students learn about automated process control system for Amur GPP in Svobodny

Exciting homeroom class was held in Gazprom class of school No. 1 in Svobodny. Maxim Yurkov, a lead engineer for automated process control systems for operation and repair of software and hardware of Gazprom Pererabotka Blagoveshchensk LLC, met with the students.


He talked with the tenth graders about the automated process control systems (APCS) used at the plant as well as about his profession and how he became the professional. The students learnt the story about where he received his education and about his work at the top international automobile concerns, and why he decided to move to Svobodny for work at the Amur GPP.

«The Amur GPP engineer is the most important professional who knows everything from the sensors on the pipelines up to mathematical algorithms that provide a basis for the automated process control systems to work properly. Such professional should be highly qualified, responsible and have good knowledge of programming and radio-electronics, and his work is highly valued,» Maxim Yurkov emphasized that engineering is of the highest value and the relevance of the technical education in modern Russia.
«It was interesting for me to know about the intricacies of the profession and, for instance, it is not enough to be just a professional since you have to constantly improve your skills because the technical progress imposes new requirements. I have received some useful advice on admission to the relevant universities, thank you,» Alexey Shalimov, Gazprom class student, shared his impressions.
The thematic homeroom class was prepared by the Training and Development Department of Gazprom Pererabotka Blagoveshchensk LLC and it is a part of career guidance events for Gazprom class students.
«The training programs have been developed together with our professionals with regard to the students» interest in order to assist the senior high-school students in choosing their profession and support them with the employer-sponsored training programs at universities in future. For instance, the theme of the first homeroom class was proposed by the students. Our company is interested in training young professionals for the Amur GPP and as a result, 30 Gazprom class graduates of 2019 and 2021 are already eligible for training programs sponsored by our company," said Oksana Osik, a specialist of the Training and Development Department of Gazprom Pererabotka Blagoveshchensk LLC.
Gazprom class students visited the Amur GPP after the homeroom class. The managers of the production units talked about the features of the plant operation and natural gas processing. The students saw the operation of the automated process control system in the central control room. Answering the tenth graders' questions, the professionals explained the nuances and specifics of the following professions in demand at the Amur GPP: a process unit operator, a process engineer, a chemical laboratory assistant, and many others.
