Final tests of rain and industrial rainwater runoff treatment now in progress at Amur GPP. Company personnel are evaluating not only the assembly of the units, but also their operating characteristics, including their pressure, temperature and vibration.

Purification and disinfection of polluted water to comply with the strict requirements of the fisheries regulations will take place in several stages. First, the effluents will be accumulated in tanks with a total capacity of 14,000 cubic meters. From there, the powerful pumps will supply water to the treatment unit where it will be cleaned of debris, sand, suspended particles and impurities. Important fact is that all drains pass through 40 filters with coal and sand. Further on, the purified water is decontaminated with reagents and ultraviolet light to then be stored in 10 tanks with a total capacity of 50,000 cubic meters. Subsequently, this water will be directed to the fire and household lines of the plant.

Each of the treatment stages will be implemented under strict supervision of environmental professionals, including the laboratory checks. Specialists will regularly monitor the compliance of treated wastewater with the strict requirements of Russian and international standards.

Amur GPP is one of the most powerful and modern gas processing plants in the world. The project, in particular, provides for construction of the water treatment and sewage treatment units with 99% purification efficiency. Downstream of it, all wastewater from Amur GPP in terms of its content of pollutants will comply with the standards established for fisheries reservoirs. These standards are considered the most stringent in Russian law. That is, such purified water is quite suitable for a lake with trout and grayling, as well as for any reservoir where the Amur sturgeon is found.
