Large-scale drill was held today in order to protect the settlements of the Svobodnensky district and the facilities of the Amur Gas Processing Plant from natural fires.
The fire and rescue units of the plant's contractors, fire departments from Svobodny, Belogorsk, Shimanovsk and Tsiolkovsky, the military fire safety unit of the Ministry of Defense, voluntary fire departments of municipalities, as well as the fire and chemical station of the Svobodny Forestry combined their forces and resources for that.
The drill involved 22 pieces of equipment and about 200 specialists, including the employees of the Main Department of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Amur region.
The main task of the drill is to work out the interaction of units of various forms of ownership and departmental affiliation in the event of a threat of natural fires moving towards the settlements, to develop the skills of coordinated actions to extinguish land fires in large areas.
According to the concept of the drill, there was a fire caught by dry vegetation one and a half kilometers away from the territory of the Amur Gas Processing Plant, and there was a threat to residential and industrial facilities due to the human factor.
"We improve the level of coordination of our actions; increase the effectiveness of our cooperation. This year’s drill has shown a high degree of preparedness of the forces and equipment to prevent emergencies and eliminate their consequences,” said Evgeny Shilkin, Deputy Chief Engineer for Occupational, Industrial and Fire Safety of Gazprom Pererabotka Blagoveshchensk LLC.
"The drill was held at a high level. Specialists of all departments managed to perform the tasks set," said Konstantin Rybalko, Deputy Head of the Main Department of the EMERCOM of Russia for the Amur Region.
Similar drill in the area of construction of the Amur Gas processing Plant are held regularly on the eve of the spring and autumn fire-hazardous periods in the region.
Construction workers of the gas processing plant traditionally take part in creation of a fire shield of the town of Svobodny and Svobodnensky district.
